Secondo i dati, i campioni provenienti dalla Sicilia sono P. Celina, mentre i campioni della vicina Calabria, separate dallo stretto di Messina, sono P. Icarus. Lo stesso si verifica quando si confrontano esemplari provenienti dalla Sardegna che risultano essere P. celina con quelli della vicina Corsica che sono invece P. Icarus.
