A Piazza Anfiteatro a Lucca si entra attraverso portici di accesso ricavati in corrispondenza degli originari archi dell'anfiteatro romano. Questi ultimi però non erano al livello del suolo attuale, ma almeno un ordine di arcate più in alto, perché il livello originario del suolo è sepolto da vari strati di terreno.
