La Torre di Rienzo si colloca nel sistema difensivo costiero contro gli attacchi pirateschi voluto dal Vicerè Pedro de Toledo intorno al 1535. Fino al 1568 lo specchio di mare prospiciente Cetraro era presidiato a nord da Torre di Fella e a sud dalla Torre di Guardia, l'erezione della Torre di Rienzo fu successiva al 1619. Inizialmente nota come Torre d'Acqua Perropata, per via della sua vicinanza a una cascata, la Torre deve la sua denominazione successiva al torriere Lorenzo Daniele, che rivestì l'incarico nel 1668-69. La struttura, a pianta quadrata, misura 10x10x20 e presenta un paramento a scarpa. Si eleva su tre piani coperti a volta, con scaletta interna: magazzini, alloggiamenti e batteria.
