Il pianeta, dopo la congiunzione inferiore del 23 marzo, si trova a ovest rispetto al Sole ed è quindi già osservabile poco prima dell'alba, basso sull'orizzonte est. Si trova vicino a Mercurio e al Sole perciò ho provato a cercarlo poco prima che raggiungesse la massima altezza sull'orizzonte, quindi verso mezzogiorno. Per fare questo ho prima puntato la nostra stella usando il filtro Astrosolar poi, dato che i due astri avevano praticamente la stessa declinazione, ho mosso il telescopio di qualche grado in ascensione retta, ho poi tolto il filtro solare e ho aggiunto all'oculare da 25 mm il filtro Skyglow per aumentare il contrasto e trovare il pianeta più facilmente. Purtroppo il seeing era mediocre e la turbolenza era molto ben visibile già a bassi ingrandimenti.
