In un remoto nord, il Lago di Cristallo restava ghiacciato tutto l'inverno, circondato da abeti carichi di neve. Si diceva avesse un'anima e ascoltasse i sussurri del vento. Una piccola volpe affamata si avvicinò al lago, osservando l'acqua limpida sotto il ghiaccio. All'improvviso, sentì una voce gentile: “Hai freddo, piccola volpe?” Il lago, con un sospiro, aprì una piccola crepa, e un pesciolino d'argento saltò fuori.
