I don't see all this super quality of the 200-800 on the R7 let alone a deadly autofocus !?
Out of 3 photos there is not one in focus ...
(But I'm not surprised... I know the behavior of the camera with this lens :)

In fact, I called the quality of this lens good. ;-) Be careful not to confuse sharpness and maf. They are two very different things. ;-)

The 200-800 renders much better on FF (clearer and sharper images and more consistent autofocus) but if you can get the subjects at the right distance with good/acceptable light the quality will definitely be good... Otherwise the "limits" of the combination emerge (autofocus not always perfect, sharpness so-so and aberrations) also due to the air in the middle, at 800 on R7 the subject is "very" away, if the air is not perfect the photos do not come ;-)

Well, I noticed the "limits" too, of course. But precisely from a lens that costs just over € 2000 and offers all these focal lengths I think it is difficult to expect more.
This is a photo of the fisherman taken yesterday. Conditions with very "murky" diffused light. In essence, the result, in my humble opinion, is fine.
