Le corse dei tori sono il pezzo forte di questa famosa celebrazione che trasforma Pamplona in una festa continua. La città di Pamplona è nota in tutto il mondo per la festa di San Fermín. Migliaia di persone partecipano ogni anno per vivere il rischio e l'emozione delle popolari corse dei tori, immortalate da Ernest Hemingway nel romanzo Fiesta. Per nove giorni, vestiti con costumi bianchi e il tipico fazzoletto rosso al collo, abitanti e visitatori si lasciano trascinare dallo spirito festivo che invade le strade. La festa di San Fermín inizia il 6 luglio a mezzogiorno. A quell'ora si lancia dal balcone del Municipio il “chupinazo”, il razzo che segna ufficialmente l'apertura delle celebrazioni, provocando l'esultanza della folla riunita in piazza. La prima corsa dei tori si celebra il giorno seguente: alle 8.00 in punto si aprono le porte del recinto di Santo Domingo e centinaia di persone corrono davanti ai tori seguendo il tracciato lungo il centro storico che li porta fino all'arena.
