L'obiettivo era chiaro fin da subito: costruire una struttura imponente, in grado di ospitare tutte le attività di vinificazione e affinamento della Bodegas; ma capace anche di ergersi a simbolo di un'intera regione vinicola. Una cantina-icona quindi, che affascina il grande pubblico con la sua bellezza funzionale e monumentale.

La base dell'edificio è uno sterminato rettangolo di 196 metri per 26. L'elemento chiave sta nella sua appariscente copertura: non una superficie liscia ma una struttura mossa fino a formare delle onde



che richiamano le spigolature delle montagne circostanti.



Per realizzarla sono state utilizzate travi di legno lamellare con lunghezza che varia dai 32 ai 42 metri, poi ricoperte da una lamina di alluminio naturale.



I muri sono in cemento armato e rivestiti in legno trattato con vernici a base di rame.
