Ho capito che si trattava di un SAR (Stable Aurora Red Arc) che si è aggiunta all'aurora vera quando il picco della tempesta era passato poco dopo le ore 20, ora dello scatto della foto poiché il Nooa aveva previsto una tempesta geomagnetica che in principio sembrava meno intensa del previsto, ma che invece è stata più forte. Quindi appena letto la notizia ho preparato velocemente l'attrezzatura e son partito. Arrivato in spiaggia c'era molta umidità ma per fortuna il cielo stellato era sgombro da nuvole e le stelle erano ben visibili. Ho montato velocemente l'attrezzatura sul treppiede e iniziato a scattare. Ho già fotografato l'aurora negli scorsi due eventi del 2024, il sole in questo periodo è quasi al massimo del suo ciclo di attività che si rinnova ogni 11 anni quindi solo recentemente questi fenomeni sono visibili anche dalle nostre latitudini con condizioni ottimali di cielo sgombro da nuvole e da posti con poco inquinamento luminoso è possibile vedere meglio il fenomeno. La foto è uno scatto singolo da 25 secondi fatto da Portonovo, in primo piano si vede lo scoglio della Vela, sopra di essa leggermente alla sua sinistra c'è il Grande Carro con sopra il SAR. Come dicevo ho fotografato l'aurora da Portonovo e dalle grotte sotto la piscina del Passetto, l'ultima volta non sono potuto scendere alla spiaggia della Vela per via del G7 Salute, questa volta ci son riuscito anche se il fenomeno è stato meno intenso delle altre due volte ma mi ha regalato un capodanno davvero fantastico.
