Il Pino Loricato è senza dubbio uno degli abitanti più affascinanti e antichi del Parco Nazionale del Pollino. Questa conifera, considerata un vero e proprio “fossile vivente”, è un simbolo di resistenza e adattamento, capace di sopravvivere in condizioni climatiche estreme. Il nome “loricato” deriva dalla sua corteccia, spessa e screpolata, che ricorda la lorica, la corazza dei legionari romani. Questa caratteristica gli consente di proteggersi dal freddo intenso e dai forti venti che sferzano le vette del Pollino.
