Dal cielo lattiginoso scendono delicati i primi fiocchi di neve. Ai piedi di un larice secolare, un lupo dorme profondamente. Per un attimo, la mente si sofferma su quell'albero maestoso, immaginando le storie che potrebbe raccontare. Quanti animali avrà visto passare e fermarsi a riposare ai suoi piedi. Chissà se ha offerto rifugio agli ultimi lupi valdostani, in fuga dai loro persecutori, o se ha protetto le ultime linci, così come gli orsi, sterminati in Valle d'Aosta a metà '800. Eppure il lupo è tornato ai piedi di quel larice e ora riposa tranquillo, mentre la nevicata si fa sempre più intensa. I fiocchi gelidi mi riportano alla realtà, svegliando anche l'animale dal suo sonno profondo. Il lupo avanza silenzioso tra i larici innevati, la sua sagoma inconfondibile si fonde nel paesaggio invernale. La nevicata avvolge ogni cosa, tessendo un legame profondo tra la creatura e il bosco che l'ha nuovamente accolta, come se fossero un unico, indissolubile elemento della montagna.
