30/11/24. Io e mia moglie programmiano una escursione ad anello nella zona del Corno alle Scale (BO), con partenza dal Rifugio Cavone. Alla partenza il tempo è decisamente meno clemente di quello che ci si aspettavamo (nebbia). Man mano che risaliamo la Valle del Silenzio, vento e nebbia si intensificano e, all'uscita dal bosco, tutto il terreno è ricoperto da uno strato di "aghi" di ghiaccio. Al passaggio dal rifugio Duca degli Abruzzi, poi, la visibilità è ridotta attorno ai 20/30 metri con raffiche di vento che rendono difficoltoso il cammino mentre a terra è oramai tutto bianco, come fosse nevicato, ma è ghiaccio. Nel giro di poco ci ritroviamo letteralmente coperti di "scaglie" di ghiaccio come tutto attorno, del resto. A malincuore decidiamo di tornare sui nostri passi e gustarci un pasto caldo al Rifugio Cavone. Questo è l'unico scatto nell'unico momento in cui ho tolto la macchina dallo zaino, durante la salita dalla Valle del Silenzio..mezz'ora dopo eravamo letteralmente ricoperti di ghiaccio.
