You're right, on the shutter speed I can only agree with you, but until a few moments before the leopard was in full light and I needed a quick time to avoid burns, then when it passed into shadow I didn't have time to change the shutter speed and I stayed quite tall..
As for the aperture, I don't know if my lens works at a smaller aperture than the 2.8 :-P I really like to stay open :-D :-D
