Questo è il Foro Annonario di Senigallia, conosciuto anche come piazza dell'erbe perché sino a pochi anni fa vi si svolgeva quotidianamente la compravendita di pesce sotto al porticato mentre nella piazza centrale ancora oggi, il mattino, svolgono la loro attività i commercianti ambulanti di frutta e verdura. La costruzione risale alla prima metà dell'Ottocento ed era nata come una caserma per le legioni, poi diventata nel corso del tempo anche un carcere. Ora nel sottottetto trovano posto la biblioteca e l'archivio comunale, mentre nella piazza si svolgono anche spettacoli all'aperto.
