Il luogo risulta piuttosto suggestivo, mi sento tuttavia di sconsigliare vivissimamente l'escursione alle grotte di ghiaccio del ghiacciaio vatnajokull a tutti quelli che volessero andare in Islanda, perchè per quanto mi riguarda è l'emblema delle trappole per turisti: grupponi di venti persone chiassosissime in coda per visitare una grottarella molto piccola e perlopiù pietrosa (saranno una decina di metri in lunghezza ma la maggior parte richiede di procedervi accovacciati per l'altezza inferiore al metro e non è che mancasse neve perchè sono andato a metà febbraio), completamente buia e sicuramente alla vista molto diversa dai blu elettrici che si vedono spesso nelle pubblicità e sui social e che generalmente sono il risultato dell'elaborazione degli iPhone (per far venir fuori quel blu anche con la macchina, ci vuole un bel color grading invasivo nella maggior parte dei casi); fateci caso, non c'è mai una foto che faccia vedere effettivamente bene la grotta, sono sempre piccoli scorci di muri ghiacciati o dettagli, ipersaturati e spesso e volentieri ripresi con il grandangolo che distorce molto le proporzioni. "Visita" se così si può chiamare di una mezz'oretta scarsa, passata perlopiù ad attendere che quelli davanti a te si siano messi in posa per fare tutti la stessa foto nel punto instagrammabile, zero tempo per fare foto o altro (non che ce ne sia granchè modo, soprattutto perchè risulta molto affollata), il tutto alla modica cifra di circa 150 euro a testa. Nettamente il momento più deludente del viaggio in Islanda, soldi spesi davvero malissimo purtroppo.
