"Ai piedi dei Monti Lepini, con lo sguardo ormai rivolto alle pianure che conducono al Tirreno, è il borgo storico di Bassiano. Lungo il perimetro delle sue antiche mura medievali, da cui si dirama una fitta trama di vicoli, si trova la Bottega di un appassionato e sereno Liutaio. Il locale è di rara e struggente bellezza. Le antiche volte, i piccoli lucernai da cui trapelano sottili fasci di luce, proiettano il tempo in una dimensione aliena al presente. Parliamo intensamente di legni, di essenze. I profumi, i colori, le consistenze, il modo sempre diverso in cui ciascuna fibra trasmette la vibrazione del suono alla prova del diapason. E dei luoghi da cui provengono. Gli aceri della catena dei Carpazi fino ai cedri del lontano Libano. E poi gli abeti rossi del Trentino, giungendo al suo preferito, l'acero che nasce sulle vicine alture del Monte Semprevisa, la cima più alta di questa piccola catena, la cui vetta è facile scorgere appena oltre la soglia della Bottega. Marco iniziò come talentuoso insegnante e musicista. Fino ad un concerto speciale, al termine del quale gli si paventò innanzi un vecchio signore, mai visto prima, con un violino in mano.
