A Firenze un luogo poco visitato dai turisti per la sua posizione defilata è il Nuovo Teatro dell'Opera, qui vanno tutti per assistere a opere liriche, proiezioni e manifestazioni di spettacoli vari, non per turismo. Il Teatro è inoltre la casa dell'Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. L'edificio è al tempo stesso modernissimo ed estremamente funzionale: si trova in una zona che è stata recentemente rivalutata, tra Piazza Vittorio Veneto ed il Parco delle Cascine, facilmente raggiungibile con la linea 1 della Tramvia, fermata Porta al Prato - Leopolda.
