Di foto di Manta nel web se ne vedono migliaia, ma una foto come questa, con una manta completamente immersa in un brodo di plancton in cui si leggono perfettamente i crostacei (in questo caso essenzialmente copepodi) di cui queste astronavi del mare si nutrono, personalmente non l'avevo mai vista. Probabilmente per questo motivo i giudici del Montphoto International Festival l'hanno giudicata meritevole di una menzione d'onore nella sezione delle foto subacquee. Sono estremamente onorato di questo riconoscimento e di essere in compagnia di tanti altri grandi fotografi. La foto l'ho scattata durante una notturna nella Fesdhoo lagoon, nell' Atollo di Ari alle Maldive.
