Martedi 6 Agosto. La giornata più bella con un bel sole e una bella luce. Dopo una spettacolare alba a Walla Craig che più avanti vi proporrò decidiamo di passare la giornata sulla costa della Cumbria sul mare d'Irlanda. La passeggiata molto bella si svilupperà dal promontorio di Saint Bees lungo la costa. St Bees è il punto di partenza del Wainwright Coast to Coast Walk , ideato da Alfred Wainwright nel 1973. Si tratta di un sentiero a lunga percorrenza non ufficiale e per lo più non segnalato di 192 miglia (309 km) nel nord dell'Inghilterra . Come pianificato da Alfred Wainwright, attraversa tre parchi nazionali contrastanti : il Lake District National Park, lo Yorkshire Dales National Park e il North York Moors National Park. Wainwright ha raccomandato ai camminatori di immergere i piedi calzati di stivali nel Mare d'Irlanda a St Bees e, alla fine della passeggiata, nel Mare del Nord a Robin Hood's Bay . A St Bees, l'inizio è segnato dal "Wainwright Wall" che spiega la passeggiata e la sua storia. Un nuovo pannello interpretativo e lo striscione in acciaio sono stati installati nell'estate del 2013 dal St Bees Parish Council e dalla Wainwright Society.
