Roma, Italy.

A sinistra piazza Colonna e la colonna di Marco Aurelio (detta Antonina) in una stampa di G.B. Piranesi del 1750 c.a. In basso a destra si nota la facciata di palazzo Piombino (proprietà Boncompagni Ludovisi) che fu demolito nel 1915 in occasione dei lavori di allargamento e risistemazione della piazza. Al suo posto fu realizzato l'edificio della Galleria Colonna (oggi galleria Alberto Sordi) visibile nella immagine attuale a destra. I Boncompagni Ludovisi, a seguito dell'esproprio di palazzo Piombino, realizzarono poi palazzo Margherita all'interno delle loro proprietà di Villa Ludovisi, lottizzata nel 1883 per la realizzazione del nuovo rione Ludovisi. Palazzo Margherita è oggi sede dell'ambasciata USA in Italia.
