Erebia pronoe (Esper, 1780) Famiglia Nymphalidae Sottofamiglia Satyrinae Apertura alare: Da 3,9 a 4,2 cm. Distribuzione in Italia: Presente sull'arco alpino dalla provincia di Verbania Cusio Ossola al Friuli. Habitat: Pendii erbosi umidi da 1000 sino a 2500 m. Periodo di volo: Univoltina da fine luglio a metà settembre. Pianta alimentare dei bruchi: Festuca quadriflora, Festuca ovina, e altre graminacee in particolare quelle del genere Poa. Dimorfismo sessuale: Femmina più chiara. Variazioni: Gli ocelli, sempre molto piccoli, in alcuni esemplari possono mancare completamente. Anche la banda rossa è molto variabile: abbastanza marcata in alcune popolazioni, in altre si riduce notevolmente fino a mancare e a presentarsi come un semplice contorno appena visibile attorno agli ocelli. Specie simili: Erebia styx e Erebia stiria da cui si distingue per il disegno del rovescio delle ali posteriori dove la tramatura di punti chiari è molto fine e la larga fascia chiara è sempre ben visibile sia nei maschi che nelle femmine. Inoltre, all'apice del rovescio dell'ala anteriore la screziatura grigia riprende il disegno delle ali posteriori e si estende spesso lungo il bordo costale.
