Il Martin pescatore pigmeo del Madagascar è un piccolo martin pescatore di foresta (lunghezza max 13 cm), di color arancione quasi fluorescente. Endemico del Madagascar, dove è più comune nelle foreste pluviali orientali e settentrionali, sebbene si possa trovare localmente anche nella foresta decidua occidentale. Resta posato immobile per lunghi periodi prima di lanciarsi sulle prede, più spesso rane.
