Gibellina Vecchia in provincia di Trapani sorgeva sul pendio di una collina. Fu rasa la suolo da un violento terremoto il 14 genneio 1968. Ripulito dalle macerie negli anni 80 si diede incarico all'artista Alberto Burri di eseguire un'opera di arte ambientale per ricordare il tragico evento. L'opera terminata nel 2015 consiste nell'aver ricoperto l'intero fianco della collina con calcestruzzo spesso 150 cm solcato da crepe che riproducono le vecchie vie del paese. Da qui il nome Cretto di Burri. Garantisco che camminarci dentro fa una certa impressione. Per fotografarlo bene e rendere l'idea dell'opera nella sua interezza ci vorrebbe un drone
