La lunga spiaggia di Somo a Santander può accogliere migliaia di bagnanti, tra loro i più attivi sono i giovani surfisti provenienti da tutto il mondo per esercitare lo sport con la tavola da surf senza pericoli eccessivi. Personalmente ho fatto il bagno in queste acque dove l'oceano Atlantico da il suo bel da fare anche quando è calmo come in questo caso, onde a ripetizione con una bella forza di impatto tanto da non potersi allontanare oltre l'altezza della vita, le correnti di ritorno sono molto forti e pericolose.

La spiaggia di Somo ha 2 km di sabbia fine da Puntal a Loredo, con picchi sparsi per tutti i livelli. Distinguiamo 3 spots principali in questa spiaggia: La Curva, El Camping e El Barco.
