The used lens was Nikon Macro-Nikkor 65mm f/4.5 Multiphot. It's an old lens made in the 1970's, very well made and with very good optical performance from 2X magnification and above. More info about the Macro Nikkor Multiphot lenses can be found here: savazzi.freehostia.com/photography/macronikkors.htm

The used aperture in this photo was 4.5. Why? Because at more than 1X magnification the effective (real) aperture is calculated with formula: Effective Aperture = Lens Aperture x (1 + Magnification) The magnification in this image was roughly around 3.5X so the effective aperture was (1+3.5)X4.5=20.25 ! So we are well into diffraction territory! ;-)
