Cristian great, great mastery of this technique, how come a choice of a diaphragm so open? because of the light? Grande Cristian, grande padronanza in questa tecnica, come mai una scelta di un diaframma così aperto? per via della luce? |

Great shoot, from the details at the top. The droplets with "lens effect" are a treat :) Grande scatto, dai dettagli al top. Le goccioline con "effetto lente" sono una vera chicca :) |

The difficulty of the shot is clear, as is evident in its perfect success. La difficoltà dello scatto è evidente, come evidente ne sia la sua perfetta riuscita. |

Thank you all for the comments! The used lens was Nikon Macro-Nikkor 65mm f/4.5 Multiphot. It's an old lens made in the 1970's, very well made and with very good optical performance from 2X magnification and above. More info about the Macro Nikkor Multiphot lenses can be found here: savazzi.freehostia.com/photography/macronikkors.htm The used aperture in this photo was 4.5. Why? Because at more than 1X magnification the effective (real) aperture is calculated with formula: Effective Aperture = Lens Aperture x (1 + Magnification) The magnification in this image was roughly around 3.5X so the effective aperture was (1+3.5)X4.5=20.25 ! So we are well into diffraction territory! Btw, here's the animated stack:
