Catastrophic Thunderstorm...

Temporali / Fulmini

Catastrophic Thunderstorm sent on July 02, 2024 (19:53) by Aeriavirtus. 7 comments, 198 views. [retina]

at 14mm, 10 sec f/2.8, ISO 100, tripod.

The sensor probably still holds up, but it is not suitable (and I think it wasn't even at the time) for long exposures, generating a strong chromatic noise, moreover at low frequency (the wrong pixels are very far from each other). It's not easy to take off.
The photo is valid.

Hi Claudio. Thank you very much for your technical opinion. By now we are talking about sensors that use hammer and tip 8-)
By now I am aware of this limitation... I consider it a touch of vintage romanticism.
Thank you for your appreciation of the shot.
Good evening Simone

I knew that all sensors do this kind of noise anyway in long exposures (maybe less so the modern ones). It is eliminated with the "dark frame" (an all-black automatic shutter is subtracted from the image, and the difference takes away the anomalous pixels or something like that). For example, the rare times I've used them on a tripod at night (I hate taking that kind of photo, I hate tripod in general), Nikons, after 30 seconds of exposure you take more to do the D.F.
procedure. After all, it is really an old model. I remember when she was innovative and professional, around 2004-5.

Dearest Claudio, by now I know the limits of my oldtimer. Slowly, slowly I'm thinking about accepting the adventure towards something modern 8-)
Thanks again for your technical comment. Greetings Simone
