Il Ponte La Salve, costruito nel 1970, ha assunto un nuovo ruolo con l'apertura del museo: è stato infatti incluso all'interno del progetto architettonico, diventando parte integrante della struttura. Il museo infatti lo “abbraccia” dal basso, incorporandolo grazie a una torre e a due ascensori che ne permettono l'accesso diretto. Nel 2007, in occasione del 10 anniversario del Guggenheim, è stata inoltre installata sui pilastri del viadotto l'opera Arco Rosso dell'artista Daniel Buren, rendendo il ponte una vera e propria attrazione al pari delle altre opere esterne al museo.
