Tawny owl sent on June 18, 2024 (17:57) by Jancas. 10 comments, 472 views.

While monitoring birds of prey in our coastal forests, we noticed that many trees with hollows in them, did not survive the storms of recent years. In 2021 I built an owl box to record the breeding process of the tawny owl. All breeding attempts of both barn owl and tawny owl have been disrupted by the pine marten. Also this year. To our surprise, the tawny owl made a new breeding attempt in mid-April and was successful. The last egg had barely been laid, then our observation camera broke down. When the young were 10 days old and mother left the nest, we installed a new camera. Fantastic to see what's happening there. The persistent rain has left entire forests in the water. Hunting mice is more difficult. They mainly catch young birds. This is a recording from the video film that was made with a security camera in the nestbox. I designed this project together with my friend Klaas

Sigismondi, it is all natural Light. The Light comes through the opening and from above as well. I can not control the aperture, shutterspeed and the amount of Light. This is a screenshot I make while watching the monitor.
Greeting Jan.
