Il tetto deve essere rinnovato circa ogni trenta-quaranta anni, con una spesa notevole: infatti la materia prima (un tempo comunissima e praticamente gratuita), con la sparizione dei canneti naturali ora è da ordinare a imprese specializzate nella raccolta e posa in opera.
