Pigi, you're right when you say that the edges of the wings are poorly defined, but more than missing shots I would attribute the defect to the optics. I didn't have the Sigma 180 and used the 24-140 with the extension tubes.
I've noticed that on all the shots there's this drop in sharpness at the edges.
On the other hand, everything else is sharp, including the antennae that certainly exceed the pdf of the wingtips.
