Northern Bald Ibis sent on June 16, 2024 (20:07) by Rick68. 8 comments, 183 views.

at 100mm, 1/1600 f/4.0, ISO 200, hand held. Specie: Geronticus eremita

A wonderful news for the Italian nator. Evidently, some pairs have decided to avoid the migratory journey and have nested with us. :-)
Greetings
Claudio :-)

Great news it's definitely not the first year of nesting given the guano, I think it was known for a couple of years. But is it the trunk of a palm tree?

Thank you all. I contacted the WWF and they told me that these Ibises are being monitored by an association called Waldrapp who is working to restore their migratory routes and of course to try to increase their numbers, hunters permitting that they continue to shoot them down. Probably this nest was already known to those in charge.
@Sigismondi
Yes, it's the trunk of a palm tree, very close to some houses.

@Rosetta08
It's beautiful :-D I assure you that seeing it up close with that huge beak that feeds the young leaves you breathless :-)
