Nell'Appennino Modenese, laddove inizia il Frignano, a quasi 1300 metri s.l.m., si trova un piccolo borgo di poche decine d'anime. Qui è la casa bottega di un liutaio di montagna. Dalla finestra del suo laboratorio, puoi ammirare il profilo del massiccio del monte Cimone che domina l'altopiano. Si racconta che nelle giornate in cui il vento pulisce e rischiara l'aria, dalla sommità lo sguardo possa raggiungere la visione dei due mari. Fabrizio ha sempre lavorato il legno e ha ereditato dai suoi avi la conoscenza degli strumenti. All'inizio del secolo, il bisnonno già insegnava musica a decine di allievi che si radunavano dai piccoli paesi sparsi per questa landa remota. Dalla cultura della vita di montagna ha imparato molte abilità, tanto da considerarsi un liutaio-contadino. In un pezzetto di terra lavora grani antichi che macina autonomamente. Attraverso la costruzione degli strumenti, mantiene anche viva la tradizione delle composizioni musicali realizzate dal suo bisnonno. Oggi le propone nelle feste tradizionali assieme ad un piccolo gruppo di cui è parte con i fratelli ed i nipoti, in una straordinaria e commovente unione tra generazioni. Da buon contadino, ha saputo proteggere le radici che hanno nutrito i valori della sua vita, dall'inverno dell'oblio.
