Cupido minimus (Fuessly, 1775) Famiglia Lycaenidae Sottofamiglia Polyommatinae Apertura alare: Da 1,8 a 2,6 cm. Distribuzione in Italia: Presente in tutte le regioni, isole comprese, ad eccezione della Sardegna. Habitat: Pendii erbosi e praterie, dalla pianura fino a oltre 2500 m. Periodo di volo: Univoltina con periodo di volo variabile secondo la quota, che in basso va da metà aprile a giugno e in quota da giugno ai primi di agosto. Pianta alimentare dei bruchi: Varie leguminose tra cui Anthyllis vulneraria e Astragalus penduliflorus. Dimorfismo sessuale: Femmina di colore marrone uniforme sul diritto e senza le squame azzurro metallico presenti in particolare nella zona basale delle ali del maschio. Variazioni: I punti sul rovescio sono di dimensioni molto variabili. I maschi della popolazione della Sicilia (ssp. trinacriae) sono privi delle squame azzurrate sul diritto delle ali. Specie simili: Cupido osiris per quanto riguarda le femmine, il maschio di C. osiris infatti è azzurro violaceo. Comunque, C. minimus si distingue da C. osiris per la presenza sul rovescio delle ali posteriori di una serie di macchie grigie marginali e una di queste, tra le nervature cubitali, risulta particolarmente marcata. Queste macchie marginali non sono mai presenti nelle razze italiane di C. osiris.
