Siamo uno strano popolo. Siamo abituati al silenzio, al vento ed al fuoco,a guardare il mare seduti sul monte e parliamo al sacro senza usare parole. La paura è un fatto privato, nessuno sa cosa temiamo. Non abbiamo re, ma solo regine e il dio è Padre e Madre. Il sole e la luna sono figli del vento e siamo soli davanti a Dio. La Morte ci cammina dentro, moriamo ogni notte e ogni giorno rinasciamo e l'astore e la volpe sono i nostri maestri. La vendetta e il perdono ci vengono insegnati già nei primi anni e, ancora bambini, sappiamo che bisogna tacere. Le nostre notti sono buie, ma le ali dei demoni che nascondono il sole non ci fanno paura e le janas sono solo le custodi della notte. Non si sfidano, non si provocano, anche loro fanno parte del creato. Siamo sardi, siamo uomini anche quando siamo donne e gli uomini sanno piangere senza vergognarsi. Siamo sardi sempre, anche quando il mare ci porta il nemico e noi e la terra siamo tutt'uno. E la terra, la nostra terra è come noi.
