E'una specie di farfalla heliconiide neotropicale che si trova dal Messico al bacino amazzonico e al Brasile meridionale. La superficie dell'ala dorsale è nera con grandi macchie di colore blu metallico incorniciate da due bande bianche sulle ali precedenti. La superficie ventrale dell'ala è sbiadita da marrone a nero con bande e piccole macchie rosse sulla margine prossimale; L'apertura alare totale va da 55 a 60 mm. Si nutrono del nettare delle specie Hamelia, Lantana, Palicourea e Psiguria.. Scatto in ambiente protetto
