Foto presa durante una visita in occasione delle Giornate FAI di Primavera. Domenica 24 marzo 2024. 11:40. Il Grattacielo Pirelli, detto anche “Pirellone”, fu realizzato tra il 1954 e il 1960 su progetto dell'Architetto Gio Ponti con la collaborazione degli Ingegneri Pier Luigi Nervi e Arturo Danusso. Il Belvedere è sito al 31° e ultimo piano. In origine era un vano tecnico per i macchinari del blocco ascensori. Dopo il restauro del 2004 è stato reso fruibile per ricorrenze o eventi. Se nell'Atrio Duca d'Aosta (si veda la foto in questa stessa galleria) è evidente, specie nel pavimento e nella controsoffittatura, lo stile di Gio Ponti; qui nelle strutture in cemento a vista vedrei piuttosto la mano di Pier Luigi Nervi. Il grande involucro curvilineo chiaro al centro del locale racchiude i macchinari per gli ascensori. Il pavimento in linoleum riprende il disegno di Gio Ponti per la pavimentazione della piattaforma all'ingresso su Piazza Duca d'Aosta.
