La tradizione cinese dice che il dragone, figura mitica, fosse portatore di prosperità e in occasione del capodanno lunare veniva portato sui terreni per augurare un buon raccolto. IN analogia a tale tradizione, durante la sfilata, il dragone viene portato all'interno delle varie attività (negozi, laboratori, magazzini, ecc.) per confermare l'augurio e viene accolto con lo scoppio di mortaretti e con un tappeto rosso che alla sua uscita viene frettolosamente ripiegato verso l'interno affinché la benevolenza portata rimanga all'interno dell'attività.
