Martin Pescatore (Alcedo atthis) Maschio Questo piccolo uccello è stato scoperto per la prima volta alla fine del 1700, da Linneo. Il nome scientifico del genere deriva dal latino alcedo in riferimento al mito di Alcione, che venne trasformata dagli dei in uno di questi uccelli assieme al marito Ceice.
