Incorniciato dal paesaggio alpino e affacciato su un grazioso laghetto artificiale, il rifugio Carlo Mollino è collocato a quota 2.050 mt sulle piste del Weissmatten, nel Comune di Gressoney Saint Jean (AO) Inaugurato nel 2014, l'edificio è ispirato dal progetto Casa Capriata, proposto nel 1954 dall'architetto Carlo Mollino in occasione della X Triennale di Milano e considerato negli anni '50 un manifesto della sperimentazione di materiali e tecniche innovative di costruzione. L'architettura aerea, reinterpretazione di Mollino delle architetture Walser dell'alta Valle di Gressoney, è stata realizzata a distanza di sessant'anni grazie alla collaborazione del Comune di Gressoney Saint Jean con il Dipartimento di architettura e Design del Politecnico di Torino. L'edificio è ispirato fin dal suo progetto da un pensiero sostenibile, che si concretizza nell'adozione di materiali e impianti che consentano di minimizzare l'impatto ambientale del rifugio. Nel 2020 l'edificio ha avuto il riconscimento CASACLIMA GOLD.
