"Costruisco Pipe qui nell'altopiano delle Serre Calabresi dal 1965. Ad insegnarmi fu mio padre. Vedi, oggi sto lavorando le eriche estratte in queste terre che misi a bollire nell'anno 2000. Non avrebbe logica per me lavorare legni che non abbiano subito almeno vent'anni di invecchiamento. Posso sbozzare una pipa anche in meno di una giornata. Ma è quello che si è fatto negli anni precedenti che determina il risultato. Molti vengono da me sostenendo che siano le migliori che abbiano provato. Io mi sento solo un modesto artigiano. Bisogna comprendere che la "fumata " è un'esperienza che non si può affrontare se non con lo spirito favorevole ad un momento di estrema liberazione e serenità. Non funziona come con le sigarette. Se manca quello viene meno il senso. "
