Siamo a Palermo, il giorno che precede la festa di San Giuseppe (quindi il 18 marzo), in alcune strade o piazze della città, vengono date alle fiamme gigantesche pire. Questi fuochi sono assolutamente vietati e molto pericolosi. Le pire sono "installate" qualche momento prima dell'accensione, per cui per le forze dell'ordine è difficile prevedere e prevenire. Di norma in città si contano decine di queste pericolossime pire. I vigili del fuoco che si prodigano per spegnerle, corron come matti da tutte le parti, e spesso sono soggetti a sassaiole di ragazzini e/o anche dai più grandicelli...
