Il Piccione blu del Madagascar (Alectroenas madagascariensis) è un columbide di medie dimensioni di colore blu scuro, con grande area di pelle nuda rossa perioculare e coda rossastra che appare corta in volo. Vive intorno e all'interno delle foreste pluviali del Madagascar orientale, centrale e settentrionale. Molto spesso viene osservato in volo in piccoli stormi oppure appollaiato bene in vista su alberi emergenti, dove si nutre di frutta. Praticamente silenzioso, fatto molto insolito per un columbide. Il suo stato di conservazione è classificato “Non minacciato (LC)”. Parco nazionale di Ranomafana, Novembre 2023.
