Il flehmen del cervo Il Flehmen, dal verbo tedesco flehmen ovvero mostrare l'arcata superiore de denti, consiste nell'incurvare il labbro superiore in modo tale da facilitare il passaggio di feromoni e altri odori nell'organo vomero-nasale, chiamato anche organo di Jacobson. Durante il Flehmen l'animale ritira le labbra in modo simile ad una smorfia. In questo modo esamina gli odori. Il Flehmen permette agli animali di determinare la presenza o l'assenza dell'estro, lo stato fisiologico e il tempo trascorso dal passaggio degli animali fiutati.
