I Sifaka diadema (Prophitecus diadema) sono grandi lemuri che vivono nelle foreste pluviali orientali e nord-orientali del Madagascar, ad altitudini comprese tra 800 e 1500 m. Le femmine, che sono leggermente più grandi dei maschi, pesano fino 6,7 kg e misurano fino a 53 cm di lunghezza. La caratteristica chiazza di capelli bianchi che disegna una linea sulla fronte simile a una corona è il motivo del loro nome. Questi lemuri diurni hanno arti inferiori lunghi e forti che permettono loro di compiere balzi fino a 9 m da un albero all'altro. I sifaka diadema sono per lo più folivori e si nutrono di almeno 100 diverse specie di piante. Vivono in gruppi familiari matriarcali di 3-9 individui composti da un maschio adulto riproduttore e da una o due femmine adulte. I sifaka diadema rimangono prevalentemente nella volta della foresta ma occasionalmente scendono a terra per cercare cibo, minerali e socializzare. Quando si spostano a terra compiono piccoli balzi laterali con una sorta di comica danza. Questa specie è classificata come in pericolo critico nella lista rossa IUCN.
