Gli Indri (Indri indri) sono i lemuri più grandi del mondo. Misurano tra 64 cm e 72 cm di lunghezza e possono pesare fino a 9,5 kg. C'è qualcosa di ultraterreno in questi primati. Hanno lunghi musi simili a quelli dei cani che sporgono dalle facce piatte. Gli occhi grandi, rotondi e rivolti in avanti ruotano all'interno delle orbite come se guardassero attraverso una maschera. Unici tra i lemuri hanno una coda corta e tozza. Si muovono come fantasmi attraverso la foresta, saltando da un albero all'altro spinti dalle gambe lunghe e muscolose, scivolando silenziosamente nell'aria come al rallentatore. Le foglie sono il loro pasto preferito e costituiscono la maggior parte della loro dieta. Gli Indri vivono in piccole unità familiari, da 2 a 6 membri, che operano secondo una rigida gerarchia in cui le femmine sono il sesso dominante. Rintracciare e osservare gli indri in natura nella foresta non è facile dato che si trovano dove il fogliame è più denso ed il terreno più accidentato. L'indri è classificato in pericolo critico (CR) nella Lista Rossa IUCN delle specie minacciate. La loro popolazione è infatti in forte declino a causa della deforestazione e degli effetti del cambiamento climatico, che hanno portato ad una grande frammentazione del loro habitat.
