Castellinaldo si può senza dubbio definire il paese più vitato del Roero, con il suo 63% del territorio coltivato a vigna. Posare lo sguardo dai punti più elevati verso le vallate e le dorsali sottostanti permette di cogliere la visione di un paesaggio agrario che è una vera, splendida opera d'arte di geometria e linee sinuose. Alla cima di una collina, il paese si riconosce per il massiccio castello che domina la vallata. In epoca romana era una stazione importante della strada militare, la via Fulvia, che collegava Valenza ed Asti con Pollentia. Un diploma imperiale del 1014 a favore dell'Abbazia di S. Benigno di Fruttuaria conferma al monastero canavesano il possesso di Castellinaldo, citato con il nome di “Castrum Aynaldi”, perché infeudato alla famiglia Ainaldi. Da qui il nome del paese, il cui feudo passò successivamente ai Malabaila, poi ai Damiano del Carretto, quindi ai Marchesi Faussone di Clavesana e infine ai Conti Ripa di Meana, attuali proprietari. Nella parte alta, a seguito dei restauri operati ed ancora in corso, si caratterizza per i bei colori delle case, che creano atmosfere antiche. Interessante la chiesetta a struttura tardo romanica di S. Servazio, posta sulla sommità del colle omonimo. Curiosità del luogo è la Festa delle "Bocce quadre", un torneo di bocce dalla forma quadrata, congeniali ad essere utilizzate lungo le ripidissime vie del paese.
