Nella mia vita ho visto centinaia di leonesse ma non potrò mai dimenticare l' incontro con questa sfortunata femmina mentre ci stavomo dirigendo a Ndutu. L' abbiamo trovata ormai abbandonata dal branco accanto ad una carcassa di un piccolo gnu che provava in qualche modo a mangire ma non ciriusciva a causa della mancanza dei denti e del dolore che provava ogni volta che tentava di mordere. Aveva tantissima fame ed era ricporta dalla mosche e l' unica cosa che riusciva a fare e che forse le dava sollievo, era bere tantissima acqua in una piccola pozzanghera nelle vicinanze. Ci siamo chiesti per giorni cosa potesse esserle successo: molti propendevano per un calcio da parte di una zebra ma avendo visto i danni che può fare io pensavo ad un eventuale morso di una vioera soffiante che fa degenrare i tessuti oppure d un tumore. Nel fine settimana scorso durante la reunion a Sirmione, una coppia di medici che erano venuti in Tanzania l' anno precedente, ha confermato che al 99% dovrebbe trattarsi di un tumore...
