Kaprije, schiva gemma adriatica, fa felice soprattutto il diportista in cerca di quella pace e di quel silenzio, altrove sempre più introvabili, e che qui, invece, sono alla portata di chiunque. Su quest'isolotto, infatti, i veicoli a motore sono banditi, e soltanto durante i mesi estivi a Kaprije, l'unico centro abitato dell'isola, si sente nell'aria una sorta di mormorio che ricorda lontanamente la calca delle località estive più note. Questa perla dell'arcipelago sebenicense è totalmente attraversata da una rete di sentieri che servivano agli isolani per raggiungere le terre da coltivare: non dimentichiamo, infatti, che Kaprije è prevalentemente terra di contadini, con qualche concessione alla pesca che, nelle giornate di tempo favorevole, garantisce pesce freschissimo. La presenza dell'uomo su quest'isola dalle coste riccamente frastagliate risale al XV secolo, anche se il maggior afflusso si registra nel secolo successivo. Erano quelli gli anni in cui gli abitanti della vicina Sebenico si salvarono dall'invasione turca trovando riparo proprio sull'isola. Da allora, le cose non sono cambiate: a parte Kaprije, che è l'unico centro abitato, nel resto dell'isola ci sono poche case abitate soltanto d'estate.
