L'erosione ha modificato il fianco del monte Baldo diversificando la forma del rilievo monoclinale, lungo tutta la dorsale i corsi d'acqua alimentati dall'alto degli impluvi glaciali hanno scavato delle forre profonde con andamento cataclinale, scendendo diritte verso il basso queste linee di deflusso si approfondiscono in gole con pareti alte decine (o perfino centinaia) di metri, in occasione dei temporali vi scorrono torrenti veloci e impetuosi; nelle calde giornate estive sono luoghi freschi e silenziosi, perfino in tardo agosto si trovano ancora delle piscine naturali con un po' di acqua. Risalendo uno di questi canyon d'un tratto si incontra un enorme masso di forma rotondeggiante ("balot" è il toponimo locale) rimasto incredibilmente incastrato ed isolato ad una ventina di metri da fondo.
