Uno dei problemi quando si fotografa la Via Lattea è di cercare un bel punto da cui riprenderla, un posto che possibilmente la contestualizzi. Scegliendo l'Etna come location ci si scontra con delle problematiche legate alla posizione del vulcano - anche in riferimento alla città di Catania - ed è sempre difficile ottenere degli scatti decenti, anche a causa del fortissimo inquinamento luminoso. In passato mi è capitato di fotografare la galassia 'ambientandola' con l'Etna in eruzione, ma non avevo mai provato con una panoramica, unica opzione disponibile per riprendere tutto. Per cui vedendo che il vulcano ogni tanto emetteva dei bagliori da uno dei condotti del Cratere di Sud-Est (rimasugli dell'imponente eruzione dei giorni scorsi) ho voluto cimentarmi con l'idea di riprendere la città di Catania con sopra la Via Lattea e includere l'Etna mentre mostrava del rossore sull'apparato sommitale. La costellazione dell'Orsa Maggiore me la sono ritrovata proprio sopra il Cratere di Sud-Est e quella è stata pura fortuna :-) Nel bilanciare la scena ho voluto mantenere un aspetto il più naturale possibile e aderente a ciò che i miei occhi percepivano.
